Boutique Farm Stay Retreat Shaped by Family, Art, and Time
Scurlock Farms is a boutique farm stay set on 172 acres along a mile of the San Gabriel River in the Texas Hill Country. Surrounded by centuries-old live oaks, it offers a peaceful retreat shaped by family, art, and time—just minutes from historic Georgetown, yet worlds away from the noise of everyday life.
This land has been part of our family for generations. What began as my parents’ dream became a place where homes were thoughtfully built, art was created, and family gathered. Today, Scurlock Farms remains family-owned and lovingly cared for, and we take great pride in sharing it with our guests.
Our homes are original, custom-designed residences built with natural materials gathered right here on the farm. Each offers privacy, comfort, and a true sense of place—combining authentic Hill Country character with modern conveniences
Rocky Overlook was once the home and studio of Texas landscape artist 0. P. Montague.Designed around heritage live oaks and handcrafted from river rock collected on the property, it overlooks the San Gabriel River bottom and reflects a legacy of artistry, craftsmanship, and history.
The Palette Pad is an intimate retreat designed for rest, creativity, and connection. Filled with natural light and artistic touches, it's ideal for romantic getaways, writers, and guests seeking quiet inspiration in a peaceful farm setting.
Guests enjoy 172 acres of rolling pasture, gardens, wooded areas, and a full mile of San Gabriel River frontage. Explore the land, fish along the river, watch wildlife, or relax beneath ancient oaks with wide-open views.
This is a living, working farm. Guests may choose to feed animals, gather eggs, garden, or simply observe daily farm life. Writers, couples, and families appreciate the space, freedom, and hands-on experiences rarely found in traditional vacation rentals.
Outdoor living is central to the Scurlock Farms experience. Enjoy terraced patios, outdoor dining, fire pits, and star-filled skies—perfect for quiet mornings, long conversations, and unhurried evenings.
Despite the rural setting, guests enjoy reliable high-speed Wi-Fi and dedicated workspaces. Scurlock Farms is ideal for remote work, extended stays, homeschooling, and creative retreats.
Scurlock Farms is close to historic Georgetown’s dining, arts, and music scene. Austin is just 30 minutes away, with Central Texas shopping, cultural attractions, and destinations like Waco within easy driving distance.
We practice sustainability throughout the farm, including recycling, composting, rainwater harvesting, and repurposing fallen trees into furniture. Our homes are energy efficient and intentionally designed to care for the land.
Well-behaved pets are welcome. With open acreage and scenic paths. Scurlock Farms offers a setting where dogs can truly enjoy the outdoors alongside their people.
We live and work on the farm and love welcoming our guests. Boutique to us means personal, thoughtful, and one-of-a-kind—not fancy, but genuinely cared for.
Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, family retreat, creative escape, or extended stay, we invite you to experience life on a working Texas Hill Country farm shaped by history, art. and heartfelt hospitality.
Absolutely perfect stay and perfect place. 5 solid stars. First, the Scurlocks are as nice of people as you could hope to meet.
Second, their farm is in a beautiful location.
Third, the small house has all the amenities you need, a lovely patio with views and an excellent vibe.
This stay reminded me an old school bed and breakfast or the best of the early days of ABNB/VRBO.
Do yourself a favor and book a weekend.

The property was beautiful and the animals were so friendly. The tour of the property and the history of the farm was amazing. Sheron is a perfect host and makes the best homemade muffins. Our stay was so much more than we could have imagined!

My 22 year old daughter and I share a love of the outdoors and animals, so we knew this was the place for us! Sheron greeted us with fresh blueberry muffins and a helpful tour of the property the evening we arrived. I highly recommend Scurlock Farms for anyone looking for a unique getaway. We will be back! Thanks for an amazing few days that neither one of us can stop talking about!

Details,
Sheron Scurlock provided such a unique and enjoyable rental that we are looking forward to going back to. The location is relatively close to many fun attractions in south Texas. However, the farm itself is well worth the trip to visit. There is a beautiful stretch of the San Gabriel within short walking distance. Sheron provided an extensive tour of the property. We were able to feed and interact with some of the different live stock they have on the farm. Sheron also provided fresh baked muffins and fruit for our mornings. When we arrived home from our enjoyable stay we received a hand written note from Sheron in which she expressed her gratitude that we came to visit and even made references to things we did during our visit. Sheron and the property were so welcoming, courteous, and enjoyable. We have been to many neat rentals over our trips, and this is the first one we are planning to make a repeat visit to. It just takes one visit to feel like you're a part of the Scurlock family. One visit and you'll be hooked and wanting to come back.
